Launching Salmon

Near an otherwise tranquil Washington river, a bewildered Chinook salmon flops out of what looks like an air-conditioning duct, tail flapping fruitlessly. This is not an accident, or animal cruelty, or even a new way to deliver sushi. It is a moment engineered by man. Specifically, it is a moment engineered by a man with a cannon that shoots fish. It is also, one company hopes, the future of ecological conservation.

Epic Fail

The B.C. Ministry of Environment says it warned Imperial Metals about the Mount Polley mine tailings pond levels repeatedly before this week's devastating breach. The breach of the tailings pond dam at the copper and gold mine near Likely, B.C., released 10 billion litres of water and 4.5 million cubic metres of metals-laden fine sand, contaminating several lakes, creeks and rivers in the Cariboo region.

A Fish Story on the Wind

A Shoshone father tells his Shoshone & Arapaho son of an idea he has to start a river rafting company in their homeland, on a river where their ancestors have lived and passed for centuries, the Wind River. This story is one of respect for a resource that is life sustaining and of great cultural and spiritual importance, it is a story based on an idea that there should forever remain a place that is all about the fish, not the fishing... the fish.  www.windrivercanyon.com

Catch & Catch Again

This is an entertaining recapture story of a big Northern Pike through the ice, along with general tip-up fishing tips and river-specific technique. Aaron is fishing with his childhood (and current) fishing buddies - Peter & Mark Tully - who always have an equal or greater focus on fun and shenanigans, as they do to trophy fish targeting...this segment is no exception. This is "Catch & Catch Again" at its finest from Uncut Angling.
